Who: El and YOU
What: Elle trying life as a kid and not an experiment.
When: After the Snow Ball
Where: School, Her and Hoppers house, The Byers residence.
Warnings:
School:
Jane Hopper wanted to go to school. She wanted normalcy, a regular life like other people her age had. And while it took some time to convince Hopper that this was okay, Jane was excited to actually set foot in the building and be an actual student. Not some 'cousin' from somewhere very far away. She was actually enrolled in classes and everything and if she were to tell the truth?
It was a bit of a nightmare, that first day. There were a lot of people, which she expected, but the constant noise and motion was a bit hard for her to really relax into at first. Until she discovered that each of her classes had at least one, if not all, members of the Party in it. So that was fine, and she was glad she was there.
The only thing she didn't really like was introducing herself at the start of a few of her classes. Not that she didn't like saying she was 'Jane Hopper', but putting her on the spot like that was a bit jarring the first two or three times. By the fourth one, she introduced herself without much prompting.
And she found she really enjoyed both lunch and recess. She sat with Mike and friends at lunch and at recess?
Okay, so she didn't do much playing and was pretty content to just watch for now, but she still enjoyed it.
If anyone asks her later, she'll say her first day was good.
She could do this. She could be a normal kid. Right?
Right.
The Hopper Residence
It's now Friday Evening and Jane is home, waiting for Hopper to look over her homework (which she doesn't like but she did it anyway) and waiting for friends to show for game night. Game night was her idea. Movie night was all well and good, but she really loved playing Clue and Operation. And others were supposed to bring games, too. Games and food. That's what she decided on and that's what she asked Hopper for. She had friends, right? And this is what friends did?
There's a moment where a frown crosses her face. She's doubting this idea and herself. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. Maybe no one would come?
No, that's stupid. And she wasn't stupid. She was just nervous. When there's a knock at the door, Elle hesitates, glancing at the clock before heading to the door and peeking out.
It's a familiar face. She was okay to open the door and give whoever it was outside a smile before stepping back to let them in.
Byers Residence - Sunday afternoon
And now Elle was at the Byers house. Hopper had work, so she was here to be watched by whoever was home. She could get used to being in this place without something dire happening, like demodogs or Shadow Monsters. Happy reasons to be anywhere were things she tended to latch onto and make the most of, in her own quiet way. At present, she's sitting at the kitchen table, carefully trying to build a house out of cards. Each time it collapses, she lets out a faint huff and a frown. Eventually, she gives up on that and picks up a nearby D&D book to look over, turning through the pages carefully, making sure to not knock out any notes or filled character sheets and finding the whole thing interesting.
Confusing as hell, sure. But interesting. Imaginative. She could see why people would like playing this. The creativity that went into everything was pretty fascinating, even if it did make her head spin some.
She will be at the kitchen table, reading this book, until someone comes to talk to her or drag her away. Please do.
